NEVADA GAMING COMMISSION GRANTS FIRST ONLINE POKER LICENSE
The Nevada gambling supervisors have permitted three companies plans to take part in Internet poker websites that are within state boundaries, but these websites still have some obstacles to get clear.
The Nevada Gaming Commission approved South Point Poker LLC for the state’s first interactive gambling operator license. The Reno based-Monarch Interactive Inc. was also licensed as an operator. Also the Las Vegas Sun reports that Global Cash Access Holdings Inc. was given a license to provide online payment services.
The South Point lawyer Steve Harris has said that the company’s technology still needs to go through several layers of inspection; he also says that the operators will hopefully be accepting real-money bets by this October. It has been noted that South Point launched a free-play online poker website last year that did not handle real money.
