Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker game in the world. Texas Hold'em is popularly called "NLHE", "Hold'em" or "No-limit" when players refer to No-Limit Texas Hold'em. The game is usually played as Fixed Limit or No-Limit.

The Basics

The game is played between 2-10 players. In Texas Holdem each player is dealt two cards face down. The game is played with one player being the 'small blind' and another being 'big blind'.

The first bidding round is pre-flop and at this point the players only have two cards in their hand. Based on these two cards the players have to decide if they wish to play the hand or fold.

The Flop

The flop consists of three cards dealt on the table face up. These three cards are shared by all players.

The Turn

After a second bidding round the ‘turn' card is dealt. The turn card is a fourth card dealt on the table.

The River

After the third bidding round is over the ‘river’ is dealt which if the fifth and last card dealt face up. When the river is dealt the last round of bidding takes place. The best five card combination wins and if only one player remains left in the hand he wins without having to show his cards.
