CASINO POKER ROOMS

In the fall of 2004 the iPoker Network using Playtech software did not only offer table games such as blackjack and roulette but a large variety of slot machines as well.

During the early days this led to software crashes because the servers were not able to run the casino games while at the same time dealing with a considerably small amount of poker players compared with today’s figures.

As a result Playtech removed its casino games for a while until the servers were tested and proven powerful enough to handle them.

Later on the opposite trend started to emerge. Online Casino operators realized that they did not know how to run a poker room or they simply decided not to

bother about this aspect of their business.

The former giants Prima Poker with Royal Vegas Poker and The Gaming Club shot down their poker skins. For a while the affiliate program ReferBack did not offer a poker product for affiliates to promote. This was a shocking trend and an early sign of how tough running a healthy poker business has later proved to be.

The Cryptologic Network with massive bluechip licensees started having major problems in 2007 and eventually merged their poker network business with Boss Media in March 2009.
