Planet Poker did not have a solid software company incorporated in the business. Instead it relied on third party software companies to maintain and update their software. Planet Poker's software provider had not done its job properly which was exposed by a group of well-intended computer engineers from a software company called Citigal Inc.

Citigal Inc. proved that the random card generator was not working as it should. Their programmers broke the algorithm and made a public announcement in September 1999 explaining in details how they managed to do so. When this was made public ASF Software Inc., responsible for Planet Poker’s software, changed the algorithm and there are no records showing that their software has had critical flaws since then.1
