OMAHA POKER

Omaha Poker is the second most popular poker game in the world. Omaha Poker is popularly called "Omaha" or "PLO" when players refer to Pot-Limit Omaha. Omaha is typically played in pot limit format.

The Basics

The game is normally played between 2-9 players. In Texas Holdem each player is dealt four cards face down. The game is played with one player being the 'small blind' and another being 'big blind'. The player has to use two out of the four hole cards dealt face down to make a hand.

Pre-flop

The first bidding round is pre-flop and at this point the players only have four cards in their hand. Based on these four cards the players have to decide if they wish to play the hand or fold.

The Flop

The flop consists of three cards dealt on the table face up. These three cards are shared by all players.

The Turn

After a second bidding round the ‘turn' card is dealt. The turn card is a fourth card dealt on the table.

The River

After the third bidding round is over the ‘river’ is dealt which if the fifth and last card dealt face up. When the river is dealt the last round of bidding takes place. The best five card combination wins but it has to include two of the four cards from the players hand to be able to win the hand.

If only one player remains left at any point during the hand he wins without having to show his cards.
