The Spanish government introduced its gambling license system in June 2012. This led to yet another major country in Europe being excluded from the general player pool and transferred to a ring fenced player pool.

Spanish players could from June 2012 onwards only play against other Spanish players same as happened in Italy & France in 2008 and 2010.
