Belgium do not ring fence its players but the Belgian government issue online poker licenses. To get an online poker license you need to operate a brick-and-mortar casino so the list in Belgium is very short.
PokerStars.be became partner with Circus Groupe, together they own Casino de Namur. Partouche owns four casinos in Belgium, the first of which opened in 1995. Golden Palace owned several casinos already, so GPWin.be could apply without any trouble.1
Unibet went live with its online sports book in July 2012 and in August same year Unibet signed a strategic partnership with Rank Group to offer online casino and poker in Belgium.2
